Heidy Sung: UX/UI Designer

_______

Hi, thank you for taking the time to learn more about me!
I'm a UX/UI designer living in San Francisco. Before I moved to San Francisco in 2009 as a teen, I grew up in Hong Kong. I speak fluent english and native Cantonese.

I love UX/UI because of the joy I get from expressing myself through visual art. From that, I find deep meaning in living life in the service of others. It is also rewarding for me to design experiences that can put a sweet smile on someone's face.

In 2019, I completed a 24-week UX/UI Boot Camp at UC-Berkeley Extension to supplement my A.A in Graphic Design and Digital Media from College of San Mateo (CSM). This program has given me a strong foundation of modern design industry standards, and taught me both to build and to communicate the rationale behind user-centric designs.

Ever since I was a child I was immersed in drawing or painting. It never occurred to me that I could make a profession out of my artistic obsession until my undergraduate studies. When I took a job at Nordstrom as a beauty designer. This was a profound moment of growth for me as I learned the power of empathy, and active listening when serving my customers. I was able to utilize my communication and creative skills to providing  personalized skincare regimens and makeup selections. Seeing my delighted customers glowing with confidence was the fruit of my labor. It was at this moment that I became inspired to further purse a career in design.

When I'm not at work you will find me hanging out with my cat Jobe or going for a hike or bike ride. I also love meditation, cooking, picnics, hanging out at the beach and drawing.
